Tuesday Update - March 25th 2014

Registration Details/Information**
We are working towards releasing the date that Class Registrations will open and would like to give you an update on the booking process.  We have installed a new registration system that will make the process a whole lot easier for us and Tracey has been putting in some extraordinarily long hours at the computer to make this happen.  Once it is at a stage that will make sense to everyone it will be released so that you can become familiar with it prior to registrations opening.

There is a Class Registration Fee which will be payable by all students nominating for classes and the cost is $60.00 (inc GST). This fee not only helps towards teachers fees and expenses, staff time, supplies and equipment but also offers benefits to students. These benefits include 4 days admission into the show and vendor mall, and also a gorgeous cooler bag complete with goodies including a neck wallet, pen, pad and a copy of Quilter's Companion; Homespun from Universal Magazines and more. This is a value in excess of $100.00.

Instead of paying the Registration Fee you may choose the option of purchasing a Festival Package for $110.00 (inc GST).  In addition to the Registration Fee, which is included, you will also receive the added benefits of a Commemorative AMQF gift, 2 full patterns, 2.5m of quality wide backing fabric from Lloyd Curzon, thread, Quilt Tote, Business card folder, discount vouchers, samples, a listing in the show program, magazine from Meander Publishing, gift from Hetties Patch, and a few more surprises.  The value of the Festival Package is over $280.00.

All shops and businesses are invited to offer discount vouchers/coupons/samples to be included in these packages to further enhance our students shopping experience and to promote your products. Please contact  Sharon This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  to arrange this.

** There is no Registration Fee to attend the
Jenny Doan - Missouri Star Quilt Company - Workshops!

Tuesday Update - March 18th 2014

AMQF - On the Road Again!
We have begun taking AMQF on the road again and have visited 3 groups in the last week to promote festival.  Our aim is to get the word out to as many people as possible, so if you'd like us to visit your group and get to know a bit more about who we are and what we do we'd love to visit you.  Please email us to set up a date.

Jenny Doan - Missouri Star Quilt Company

The interest in Jenny has been amazing and we are very excited to be hosting her here in Australia.  We are working on the finer points of Jenny's classes including the costing and will notify everyone as soon as we have this all in place.  In the meantime we can let you know that Jenny's classes will be held on Wednesday, 1st October 2014 at the Adelaide Convention Centre.  The first class is scheduled to start at 8.30am, so if you book this one it might be advisable to arrive the day before to settle in and have time to set yourself up. Classroom will be open from 8am to set up. These classes will be "hands on" and you will need to bring your own machine (tagged) to class.  If you live interstate it is not a problem to book your machine on as excess baggage when you are booking your ticket - the cost will vary depending on the airline and weight of your particular machine.

There are a few reasons behind the need to bring your own machine, however, the main reason being that everyone is familiar with their own machine and we don't want delays and interruptions during Jenny's class to sort out issues with a machine that you don't know.  Our aim is to make your time with Jenny as enjoyable and valuable as we possibly can.

Sponsorship for Online Businesses
We are promoting online businesses again through the Web Based Business Package, if you would like to take part in this great initiative please contact us for details.  This was very successful last year and for the low cost of $110.00 you can be on your way to reaching a very large quilting audience.  Your business will be promoted to all of our students, and reach thousands through our website and online marketing.

Quilt Challenge
The response to the Alzheimer's Benefit Quilt Challenge has been fabulous with kits sales now exceeding those sold last year.  We still have kits available so please visit our website to order your kit, beautiful jewel coloured fabrics from the Impressions range by Clothworks; kindly sponsored by the very generous people at Lloyd Curzon.  Apart from supporting this incredible charity you will also be eligible to win the following prizes.

Tracey is working hard to create all the online registrations for classes and events this month. Then to finalise our Class Catalogue ready for download that will have a comprehensive list of teachers, classes, Quilt show categories and entry forms plus more!

We are auditioning the idea of offering a Bus Tour on Tuesday 30th September. It would take in some tourist sites and possibly a quilt shop or two. We really need to have an indication from attendees on whether this would be something you would like to do? To lodge your expression of interest please email us.

We will be back to profile some more teachers and their classes in the next newsletter!

Until next time...

Who is coming to teach this year?

We have an amazing line up of teachers coming to share their knowledge & skills with us this year. There will be so much to inspire us that you will need to remember to breathe…

We have already told you about the amazing Pam Holland teaching her Thread Painting Masterclass over 3 days for the first time in Australia as well as the ‘superstar’ of Wall St, Jenny Doan of the Missouri Star Quilt Co. But now we want to tell you of a couple more teachers that we are thrilled to be hosting.

Judi Madsen

of Green Fairy Quilts

Judi MadsenJudi Madsen is a quilt designer and long arm quilter. She has designed over 50 quilt patterns and has grown in her ability to long arm quilt. She is an award winning self-taught quilter who shares her designs and tutorials on her blog – www.greenfairyquiltsblog.com – She also shares her customer quilts where she spends the time to create a masterpiece with each one of the quilts she quilts. Judi is a wife to Clint and a mother to 4 children. Family, business and quilting life create a fun juggle of stress and fulfilment. Judi's first book "Quilting Wide Open Spaces," was published with AQS publishing in August 2013. This accomplishment has opened opportunities for teaching which is so exciting to her!

You can visit her page on the website to view all the classes she is offering this year.

Especially for all the ART quilters out there – we have the wonderfully talented, highly regarded & highly awarded:

Cathy Wiggins

Cathy WigginsCathy Wiggins was born and raised in eastern North Carolina were she received degrees in mathematics and software engineering. Even though her education is in technology, her love has always been art and any form of creativity. During her years in telecommunications she continued to foster her love of art through taking numerous workshops on subjects such as sculpting, pottery, and all forms of painting. She eventually settled on using acrylic paints on paper as her medium of choice. Through experimenting and practice, Cathy developed her own style of painting where she would, through the use of value and layers of paint, interpret photographs on paper. She won numerous awards locally and nationally for her work and began teaching her technique to others.
Cathy began quilting in February of 2003 after attending her first national quilt show.
The following year, her quilt was juried into the AQS Quilt Show & Contest in Paducah, Kentucky. Since that time she has won many national and international awards for her quilts and is
teaching her design techniques.
Now Cathy has taken her quilting work a step further with her "Just for Fun" series of quilts. She creates quilts that are both whimsical and humorous. When asked why she has made this shift in her work, Cathy says, "I just want to create quilts for the pure fun of it. I want to create quilts that bring smiles to the faces of the viewers and designs that are ageless, things that remind us of our childhood." In addition to writing articles for magazines and traveling nationally to teach, she is now writing books and creating patterns based on her award-winning quilts.

I am especially interested in seeing all the quilting work that Cathy has been doing on leather! You can learn more on all this from her facebook page where she is very generous with her information.

You can visit her page on the website to view all the classes she is offering this year.

***************************

We are VERY busy compiling the Class Catalogue for everyone right now, as well as getting ready with online registrations for classes. There is a new system for us to learn to setup, but it should be very easy for everyone to use when booking classes. We still have a few spots available for shops, quilters, businesses to advertise their products in this catalogue. For a very reasonable rate you can have over 5 months of exposure to dedicated quilters with your ad in this publication. Last Festival we posted out 600 printed copies to shops, guilds & individuals all over Australia. The online copy was downloaded over 1100 times! We anticipate even greater numbers for this years event with growth being so rapid. Please spread the word to your local favourite shops about this opportunity. You can download the Advertising Order Form here. Only 2 weeks left to get your orders in for this Catalogue. Ad copy due at the very latest on March 31st (I need to have the order before then so I can leave a space though)

Vendor booths are steadily being booked as well. To obtain your preferred position you simply need to apply online for a booth & choose your spot.

Remember that we have expanded this year to encompass machine piecing, machine applique & much much more! Check out all our teachers here. We will have such a great variety of quilting related businesses in our vendor mall that you will be drooling over all the fabric, gadgets & machines that will be there to entice you.

Until next time, happy quilting!
